You may be wondering, why does Fancy Farm Skincare only combine Rose Oil with their Tallow products?

To answer this question, let's go back to the beginning! When we first started Fancy Farm Skincare, we wanted to do better - to raise the bar. The goal was to create a product unlike anything else on the market, a product of true quality. The world doesn't need any more mass-produced products!

After many months of trial and error, we found the highest quality Tallow we could ever imagine. We drove to at least a dozen small biodiversity farms in our local area. But we knew the search ended the minute we arrived at the farm we currently work with today.

We weren't surprised when this particular Tallow had a very mild pleasant scent, a rich yellow color, and soft creamy texture. It simply embodied all of the hard work and responsible farming practices that went into producing it. We knew this Tallow raised the bar in terms of quality.

So, we had the Tallow in the bag! But we couldn't celebrate yet… Now the big question was, what do we add to it?

As we knew this Tallow was the best of the best, we were only interested in adding the very best to it to match its quality. Anything short of that would completely miss the mark of what we were going for.

After researching numerous articles, published studies, and experimenting with all different types of plant extracts - we kept coming back to traditional steam distilled Bulgarian Rose Oil.

We found this Oil goes hand in hand with Tallow because it’s:

Bulgarian Rose Oil was first produced about 400 years ago, in the Bulgarian towns of Kazanlak and Karlovo. For hundreds of years, people have been using this product for its incredible anti-aging benefits.

Each and every Rose is hand-picked at exactly the right time (typically around the third week of May) and this period only lasts for about one month. This harvesting period is crucial because of the heavy rains the region receives. Since there is only one month of the year that these Roses can be picked, Rose Oil is much more valuable than any other Oil. 

These Roses can only be picked in the morning, while there is still dew on the Rose Petals (from 4 am to no later than noon) because this is when the Rose Petals scent and Oil production are the strongest.

The amount of Oil produced can vary every year due to weather conditions. A hot and dry harvest season may last only two weeks, leading to less Oil production due to evaporation.

After these organic Roses are picked, they need to be steam distilled in order to extract the Oil in a way which preserves all of the benefits. This distillation must happen right after the Roses are picked - if the farmers fall behind, the Roses need to be sprayed with water to preserve them. The more time that passes between picking and distillation, the less Oil the Rose Petals can produce.

In addition, only river or dam water can be used in this distillation process, because in order to create the best quality Oil out there, the water needs to be clean, with a neutral pH.
